Kenyan officer killed in Haiti MSS convoy crash identified

Corporal Nzuve, a member of Kenya’s 3rd contingent to the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS), lost his life during a recovery operation after a crash along the Kenscoff–Pétion-Ville road at Perlerin 9.
The Kenyan police officer killed in a road accident in Haiti on Sunday, August 31, 2025, has been named as 41-year-old Corporal Kennedy Mutuku Nzuve.
Corporal Nzuve, a member of Kenya’s 3rd contingent to the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS), lost his life during a recovery operation after a crash along the Kenscoff–Pétion-Ville road at Perlerin 9.
He was pronounced dead at Lambert Santé Hospital in Pétion-Ville.
In a statement on Monday, MSS spokesperson Jack Ombaka said a civilian was also killed in the crash.
“The accident, unfortunately, also involved civilians. The injured personnel were rushed to the Lambert Santé Hospital in Pétion-Ville, where one MSS officer and a civilian were pronounced dead,” Ombaka said.
Ombaka confirmed that eight officers sustained injuries in the incident, adding that three of them remained in serious condition.
Born on March 8, 1984, in Machakos County, Nzuve joined the National Police Service in 2005 and later served with the Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU).
“Over the years, he served with distinction in various parts of Kenya, including Narok and Baringo counties, before taking up his final mission in Haiti,” said the MSS.

On Monday, September 1, 2025, MSS personnel from Kenya, the Bahamas, Jamaica, El Salvador, and Guatemala, together with staff from DMG, Amentum, Aspen, and GardaWorld, held a solemn service at the main dining facility in LSA1 to honor his memory.
His remains were later flown to the Dominican Republic for preservation ahead of repatriation to Kenya.
The MSS expressed gratitude to first responders, including the Forces Armées d’Haïti (FAd’H), the Haitian National Police (PNH), local residents, and MSS officers, for their swift action in rescuing the injured.
It also extended condolences to Nzuve’s family, friends, and colleagues.
“From all of us at MSS-Haiti, our thoughts and prayers are with Corporal Nzuve’s family, friends, and colleagues as they grieve this profound loss. We also wish a speedy recovery to those injured, who are thankfully out of danger,” added MSS.
