A delegation of leaders from Northern Kenya on Thursday joined colleagues from across the country in consoling with the family of National Assembly Majority Leader, Kimani Ichung’wah, following the passing of his father, Mzee Isaac Ichung’wah Ngugi.
The leaders, led by Eldas MP Adan Keynan Weheliye, described Mzee Ngugi as a visionary and respected elder.
Keynan said he embodied humility, resilience and a deep commitment to community progress.
“Mzee Ngugi was a community pillar and a guiding source of wisdom whose life continues to inspire. His role in shaping the growth and identity of Kikuyu Town remains a testament to his dedication and foresight,” added Keynan.
The delegation included Dadaab MP Farah Maalim, Lafey MP Mohamed Abdi Kheir, Wajir West MP Yussuf Farah, Garissa Township MP Major (Rtd) Mohamed Dekow, Lagdera MP Abdikadir Hussein, UDA Nominated MP Abdisirat Khalif, as well as several Principal Secretaries among them Ismael Madey (Special Programmes), Ummi Bashir (Culture, the Arts & Heritage), Ahmed Abdisalan (National Government Coordination) and Adan Millah (Shipping & Maritime Affairs).
The leaders conveyed their condolences to Mr. Ichung’wah, his family, and the people of Kikuyu, Kiambu County on Thursday.
“We pray for strength and fortitude during this time of grief,” the leaders said in a statement.
Mzee Ngugi, remembered for his decades-long role in community development, was hailed for his foresight and commitment to advancing the welfare of his people.
“As we celebrate and honour his remarkable life and enduring legacy, may God give the Ichung’wah family comfort and peace,” the leaders noted in a joint statement.
Majority leader Kimani Ichung’wah said they are deeply grateful for the "continued outpouring of support to our family during this time."
The delegation also brought goats and sheep to the Ichung’wah family, a gesture rooted in pastoralist tradition, symbolizing respect, comfort, and solidarity.
