The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has opened applications for a nationwide recruitment drive targeting 10,000 police constables, inviting all eligible Kenyans to apply and report to designated recruitment centres on the scheduled dates.
The recruitment, conducted under the Constitution of Kenya and the National Police Service Commission Act, aims to strengthen the country’s police service through a transparent, merit-based process.
According to the statement released by the Commission on September 19, 2025, the exercise is free of charge, and all applicants must meet the outlined requirements to be considered.
The Commission has warned against bribery or any attempts to influence the process, highlighting that “Engaging in corrupt practices during recruitment is a criminal offence under Section 25 of the National Police Service Commission Act.
Anyone found guilty of giving false or misleading information risks a fine not exceeding Sh 200,000, imprisonment of up to two years, or both.” The public is encouraged to report any bribery or malpractice via toll-free numbers 0709099000, 999, 911, 112, or #FichuaKwaDCI through 0800 722 203.
Eligibility requirements are strict. Applicants must be Kenyan citizens aged between 18 and 28, hold a valid national ID, and possess at least a KCSE grade of D+, including a minimum D+ in English or Kiswahili.
Physical and medical fitness are mandatory, along with a clean criminal record free of convictions or pending charges. Height requirements are 5 feet 8 inches for male candidates and 5 feet 3 inches for female candidates.
Female applicants must not be pregnant at the time of recruitment and throughout the training period.
National Youth Service graduates meeting all criteria and holding a minimum conduct rating of “GOOD” are particularly encouraged to apply. Out of the 10,000 available positions, 4,000 are reserved for NYS graduates.
Applicants must complete the prescribed form available online at official websites including npsc.go.ke, administrationpolice.go.ke, nationalpolice.go.ke, dci.go.ke, kenyapolice.go.ke, mygov.go.ke, or directly via https://prs.npsc.go.ke. Forms can also be collected from the nearest Huduma Centre.
On the recruitment day, candidates must report to their assigned constituency recruitment centres between 8 am and 5 pm, bringing original and photocopies of academic certificates, testimonials, national ID, birth certificate, and, if applicable, the NYS discharge certificate. All original documents will be returned after verification.
The Commission emphasizes that the exercise is strictly merit-based and designed to uphold integrity and professionalism in the National Police Service, ensuring that qualified Kenyans have a fair chance to serve their country.
