National Assembly Minority Leader, Junet Mohamed, has assured members of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) that the party will never be in the opposition again.

Speaking on Tuesday at the party headquarters as the party gave out nomination certificates to aspirants in the upcoming by-elections, Junet insisted that going forward, the party will either form government or be part of a coalition that forms government.

"We know where ODM is coming from and where it is going. This is the party to form government in 2027. Who knew ODM would be part of the current government? I want to assure members of ODM in the country that ODM will form government or be in the coalition that forms government. ODM will never be an opposition party again,” he said.

The Suna East MP told off critics, claiming that the Orange party is losing popularity over its association with the Kenya Kwanza administration, under the broad-based arrangement.

He insisted that the party is a national party and by 2027, it will be bigger than what it is today.

“ODM is a national party, and if there is any person who has dreams that ODM is dying anytime soon, he had better wake up. ODM will be bigger than it is now,” Junet said.

According to him, the former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga-led party is the largest in Kenya, adding that it boasts at least 1.3 million officials across the country.

“This is the party with the highest membership in Kenya. This is the best-managed party in Kenya. Our party has never had an audit query,” he said.

Since the signing of the 10-point working agreement between ODM and the ruling UDA, Junet has been vocal about the two parties working together beyond 2027.

He has publicly assured President William Ruto that the party will support him in 2027.

However, party leader Raila Odinga and senior officials, including Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, insist that the current agreement ends in 2027, and nothing beyond that.
