Former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has expressed disappointment over what he described as the derailment of Kenya’s industrialisation dream, two years after he left the Ministry of for Investments, Trade and Industry.

In a statement on Saturday, October 4, 2025, Kuria said he had envisioned a rapidly industrialising nation driven by investment, innovation and job creation for young people.

“Today is the 4th of October. Exactly two years ago, I left the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry. I had huge dreams for our country. I dreamt of rapid industrialisation,” he said.

He recalled spearheading flagship projects such as the County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPs), Special Economic Zones (SEZs), and Export Processing Zones (EPZs), which were designed to expand Kenya’s manufacturing base and attract large-scale investment.

“I launched many Special Economic Zones and Export Processing Zones. I led huge efforts in bilateral trade and regional integration,” he said.

“I dreamt that Kenya would be a heaven for Foreign Direct Investments and Business Process Outsourcings to create millions of jobs for the Gen Z.”

However, the former CS lamented that much of that progress had stalled, saying the momentum for industrial growth and investor confidence had faded.

“Looking back at the last two years, I am disappointed that this dream has been extinguished,” he said.

Despite his frustration, Kuria urged Kenyans not to lose faith in the country’s potential.

“But I refuse to give up on Kenya. We still have a great country with immense potential,” he concluded.

After President Ruto’s first dismissal of the entire Cabinet, Kuria was moved to be Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management.

He would then be dismissed and named senior economic advisor to the president before he announced that he had quit.

He has become a critic of the current administration and gone back to party activities under his Chama Cha Kazi outfit.
