Nairobi and its surrounding counties will experience a gradual increase in daytime temperatures and a reduction in rainfall over the coming days, the Kenya Meteorological Department has announced.

In its latest forecast, the department indicated that Nairobi will receive light morning rains in a few areas on Friday, October 10, 2025. Daytime temperatures will range between 26°C and 30°C, while night temperatures could drop to between 6°C and 9°C.

From Saturday, October 11 to Monday, October 13, the capital is expected to experience cloudy mornings giving way to sunny intervals, with light showers likely in a few areas.

The department also noted that counties in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nyeri, Murang’a, Embu, and Kirinyaga, will experience a similar weather pattern — cloudy mornings, sunny afternoons, and occasional light showers.

In the western region, the Rift Valley, and the Lake Victoria Basin, residents should expect afternoon showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures fluctuating between 30°C during the day and 9°C at night.

The weatherman added that the Coastal and North-Eastern regions will mainly experience sunny conditions, though isolated rains may occur. However, it warned that some of the rains could be accompanied by gusty winds, thunderstorms, and strong coastal winds.

Counties such as Makueni, Machakos, Kitui, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta are expected to remain mostly sunny throughout the forecast period, with light morning showers in some parts.

The forecast further shows that coastal regions will remain partly cloudy at night, while daytime temperatures will remain warm, ranging between 31°C and 32°C. Night temperatures are expected to stay between 11°C and 14°C.

“Rainfall is expected in some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the Coast, the Southeastern lowlands and North-eastern Kenya,” part of the report reads.

The department has urged residents to exercise caution during the rainy periods, especially in areas prone to strong winds and thunderstorms.
