The Supreme Court has announced that it will on Friday 14th March convene to deliberate on a case seeking to have the apex court overturn its previous ruling, which barred lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi and his law firm from representing clients before the Supreme Court.

In a statement by Deputy Registrar Benard Kasavuli, the court confirmed its intention to address the matter brought forward by lawyer Miiri Julius, through a certificate of urgency.

''Take Notice that the ruling in this matter will be delivered via email on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 10.00 am before the Supreme Court of Kenya,'' a statement from the Supreme Court read.

The Supreme Court's decision is expected to spark significant public debate, given the ongoing friction between the court and lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi.

The outspoken lawyer has repeatedly clashed with the Supreme Court over his online remarks and conduct, making him a controversial figure in legal circles.

Ahmednasir has been at the forefront of calls to remove Chief Justice Martha Koome and six other Supreme Court judges, maintaining an unapologetic stance in his fierce criticism of the court’s decisions and leadership.

His sharp critiques have frequently targeted CJ Koome.

The standoff took a new turn on January 21 when the Supreme Court refused to hear a case in which Ahmednasir's law firm was representing an appellant, further fueling the ongoing dispute.

During a virtual court session, proceedings took an unexpected turn when Chief Justice Koome and her fellow judges were forced to adjourn.

Ahmednasir's frequent outbursts on social media, particularly on X which they claim are designed to tarnish the judiciary's reputation and cast it in a negative light.
