He also clarified that the ODM’s agreement with UDA is grounded in a publicly signed Memorandum of Understanding.

Raila Odinga, the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), has spoken in defense of the party’s choice to collaborate with the government. He emphasized that ODM continues to engage with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in efforts to foster unity among Kenyans.

"We as ODM decided we will have a relationship with the government, but that does not mean we are in the government,’ said Odinga.

"We have partnered with UDA because our primary goal is to ensure that Kenyans experience development and prosperity. We are committed to maintaining peace in the country," he stated.

Odinga drew a comparison to the US political system, pointing out that although the Democratic and Republican parties debate various issues, they do not enter into formal coalitions.

"We no longer have separate opposition and government benches. What we have is Parliament as an institution tasked with overseeing the government. The Executive is responsible for implementing policies, while Parliament passes laws, and the Executive enforces those laws to govern the nation," Odinga explained.

He also clarified that the ODM’s agreement with UDA is grounded in a publicly signed Memorandum of Understanding.

"The MOU between us was signed in open daylight. And there are obvious points in it, six or ten. And they are very explicit indeed," adding, "That is the reason why I don't understand why people are bickering."
