Shabana coach Peter Okidi says that his side is aiming for Kenya Premier League top honours and that they will go all out to dethrone current champions Kenya Police FC.
The 'glamour boys' as they are referred to by their fans, have begun the 2025/26 Kenya Premier League season in style, winning both their matches this season with aplomb.
A 4-2 opening day success over APS Bomet was helpful, but with a 1-0 success away at Bandari following it up, there has been an air of serious positivity at the Gusii Club.
In the 2024/25 season, Shabana finished fifth with 53 points, just six behind second place Gor Mahia and trailing winners Kenya Police FC by 12 points.
According to former Nakuru All Stars gaffer Okidi, the idea is to ensure that they are competitive for longer periods this term and he does not rule out the fact that the club is going for the top gong.
"I'm excited by our good start to the season. We have started well and even though it is still early in the season, I have said so and I believe again that we have the team has a chance to go for the KPL title, he said.
"We want to win the league come the end of the season and so we will continue working harder to achieve that objective. We want to maintain our position at the top of the log,” Okidi added.
Shabana next take on Tusker FC in the league on Sunday 5 October 2025. The brewers finished four points above their rivals last season but have had a below par start, drawing one and losing the other two matches they faced.
Shabana will be rubbing their hands at the possibility of facing a wounded and underperforming Tusker, whose coach Charles Okere is under massive pressure ahead of the clash.
Forward Brian Michira is their leading scorer with three goals to his name and if cleared to be injury free, will be a major part of what Shabana aim to achieve this season.
