In a move aimed at injecting new leadership into state corporations and agencies, Cabinet Secretaries from different ministries have announced several appointments and re-appointments, as outlined in a gazette notice dated April 25, 2025.

At the Ministry of Defence, Brig. (Rtd.) J. N. Mururi, Brig. (Rtd.) P. T. Ibeere, and Brig. (Rtd.) D. C. Bartonjo were appointed by Cabinet Secretary Roselinda Soipan Tuya to the Board of Directors of the Kenya Ordnance Factories Corporation for a three-year term.

In a related appointment, Lt. Col. (Rtd.) Edward Cherop Kimosop was named to the Advisory Committee on Military Veterans for one year beginning 1st May 2025.

In the agriculture sector, Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe appointed John Gikandi Thongori to the National Cereals and Produce Board for a three-year period.

Kagwe also confirmed the re-appointment of Prof. Ezekiel Kiprop to the Pest Control Products Board for another three-year term.

Attorney-General Dorcas Agik Oduor appointed Agatha Lutala Karani, Sarah Wanjiru Migwi, and Dan Okoth Aceda to the Kenya Copyright Board for a three-year period.

The new team is expected to drive the board’s efforts in protecting creators’ rights.

The Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation announced the re-appointment of Engineer James Wainaina to the Board of Athi Water Works Development Agency for three more years.

Cabinet Secretary Eric Muriithi Muuga said the move ensures continuity in ongoing projects.

Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua appointed six new members to the National Council for Persons with Disabilities for a three-year term.

The new appointees include Elizabeth Chesang, Joseph Etyang, Freddah L. Seleto, Hannah N. Njeri, Duncan M. Chengo, and Ambassador Aggrey Shitsama.

The Privatization Commission also saw re-appointments, with Acting Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi Ng’ongo retaining Edward N. Kobuthi (Dr.), Irene Njeri Wanyoike, Celine Anyango Orata, David J. O. Nyakang’o, and Ambassador Wellington Pakia Godo for a one-year term.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba appointed Margaret C. Koech, Joakim Mulaa, and Dr. Daniel Mutai to the Council of Ol’lessos National Polytechnic for a three-year term effective from 25th February 2025.

In the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development, Eunice Njoki Macharia was appointed Chairperson of the Estate Agents Registration Board for one year.

Mary Njeri Kamunyu and Regina Njoki Njue were appointed to the Land Surveyors’ Board for two years, while Daniel George Ruhara Maina was named Chairperson of the Valuers Registration Board for three years.

Separately, the Public Service Commission, under Ambassador Anthony Mwaniki Muchiri, extended the term of the Technical Committee working on the terms and conditions of service for the National Intelligence and Research University (NIRU) staff until June 30, 2025.
