Oigara's appointment takes effect on September 1, 2025, pending regulatory approval.
Stanbic Bank has announced the appointment of its Kenya Chief Executive, Dr. Joshua Oigara, as the new Regional Chief Executive for East Africa.
Oigara's appointment takes effect on September 1, 2025, pending regulatory approval.
“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Joshua Oigara as Regional Chief Executive, East Africa, effective 1st September 2025. This appointment is subject to regulatory approval," said the financial institution.
Oigara, who has served as Chief Executive of Stanbic Bank Kenya since December 2022, will take on the additional regional role while retaining his current position.
"Dr. Oigara will continue to serve as Chief Executive of Stanbic Bank Kenya, while taking on the additional RCE responsibilities," said the bank.
He takes over from Patrick Mweheire, who concludes his five-year tenure as Regional Chief Executive on 31 August 2025 but will remain Chief Executive of Stanbic Kenya Holdings.
Stanbic commended Mweheire for his service and leadership.
“The Leadership team thanks Patrick for his exemplary leadership in building a well-positioned franchise in the East African region and look forward to his continued impact within the Group,” said Stanbic.
Oigara’s appointment further underscores Kenya’s growing role as a hub for corporate leadership in East Africa.
A respected figure in banking, Oigara previously served as Group Chief Executive of KCB, where he drove regional expansion and digital transformation before joining Stanbic.
