According to a statement posted on its official social media platforms, the Kenya Red Cross confirmed that 20 injured individuals were treated with the support of Eagle Hospital in response to the incident.

Red Cross reported that the devastating fire in Makina, Kibera, affected around 40 households.

In a statement, the humanitarian agency said it had teamed up with Eagle Hospital to attend to 20 people who sustained injuries during the early morning blaze.

The inferno was eventually brought under control by the Nairobi City County Fire Brigade, with assistance from local residents who joined the firefighting efforts.

Kibra MP Peter Orero has confirmed that six people lost their lives in the Saturday morning fire that ravaged the Makina area in Kibera.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Orero described the incident as a tragedy, revealing that six individuals — one man, two women, and three children — sustained severe burns and were rushed to hospital for emergency treatment.

"This morning, tragedy struck our community following a devastating fire incident in Makina, behind Kambi, along the route to Eagles. It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the loss of six lives at the scene," he said.

Orero has described the tragic fire in Makina as a deeply heartbreaking moment for the entire Kibra community.

"I extend my deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. This is a heartbreaking moment for all of us in Kibra. We mourn with you, and we are committed to supporting you through this difficult time," said Orero.

He expressed his condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and assured them of continued support.

The MP said he had sent a team to work alongside emergency responders to ensure victims receive urgent help, including medical treatment, counselling, and other forms of assistance.
