Former Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto, accusing him of corruption and declaring him unfit to lead Kenya.

Muturi, who previously served as the Public Service Cabinet Secretary, alleged that Ruto is deeply involved in corrupt dealings, including the controversial Adani deal.

Speaking in an interview with NTV on Friday morning, Muturi claimed that Ruto's involvement in the Adani deal is a clear example of his corrupt practices.

According to him, the President’s public image is vastly different from his private dealings, which he described as deceitful and dangerous.

Muturi’s remarks come just a week after he was dismissed from his Cabinet position.

The government cited absenteeism, poor performance, and absconding duty as reasons for his removal.

However, Muturi refuted these claims, asserting that his dismissal was politically motivated due to his outspoken stance on extrajudicial killings and abductions under Ruto’s administration.

He went on to paint a grim picture of Ruto’s leadership, describing him as a man who presents one personality to the public while operating under a completely different one behind closed doors.

“I think William Ruto is actually unfit for the position of President of the Republic of Kenya. I have come to, sadly, that conclusion,” Muturi said.

He added that his views were not driven by resentment but by observations of Ruto’s conduct in office.

Muturi also questioned Ruto’s sincerity in fighting corruption, suggesting that the President himself was deeply entangled in it.

“When I hear William Ruto speaking about corruption, I start wondering, who is this person talking about corruption? Is it because he is corrupt himself?” Muturi said, describing the President as “irreparably corrupt.”

While he avoided listing all cases of alleged corruption, Muturi pointed to the controversial Adani deal, claiming he had insider knowledge implicating Ruto directly.

He recounted an invitation by Ruto’s advisor, Adam Mum, to attend COP 28 in Dubai in 2023, where he claimed to have obtained critical information about the deal.

“I know Ruto is clearly behind it. His advisor, Adam Mum, invited me to attend COP 28 in Dubai in 2023, where I received significant information related to the Adani deal,” he stated.

Muturi further recounted a troubling encounter with Ruto regarding a $1 billion grant meant for an environmental project involving the planting of three billion trees.

He claimed that Ruto sought to bypass the National Treasury to have the funds go directly to the ministry, which he, as a former Attorney General, deemed illegal under Kenyan law.

“I was told to sign the deal at Dubai airport. Ruto called me directly, but I refused to sign. I explained that the money could only be processed through the National Treasury, as required by the Public Finance Management Act,” Muturi said.

Despite his allegations, Muturi admitted that the Kenyan public deserved to know the truth before the elections.

He hinted at revealing more details in a forthcoming book, which he said would provide an in-depth account of his experiences in government, including alleged corruption and behind-the-scenes dealings.

“I started working on the book before I left Parliament as Speaker, and now, I will finish it and share my experiences in the Cabinet, including my thoughts on President Ruto,” he said.
