In Summary

Earlier in Parliament Buildings, Ogeta was overcome with grief while paying his respects to the former Prime Minister.

Maurice Ogeta, the longtime personal bodyguard  to the late Raila Odinga tribute: JAKOM, That the commitment in the years-old service to and under you, and the undeniably very close nexus that blossomed to both comradeship of trust and a near-son relationship, have seen me grow into what I am today in the Leadership space, can neither be gainsaid nor overstressed.

From the opportunity you entrusted to me as your Personal Aide for close to 18 years, I confess I know no other human being on the African continent came close to you as the First Among Equals on the quest for a freer and more equal continent, outside Nelson Mandela.

In the historical quest for a better Kenyan nation, your legacy was marked with personal sacrifices, powers on. Thank you for being a dependable Father and Mentor. RIP, PM.

Earlier in Parliament Buildings, Ogeta was overcome with grief while paying his respects to the former Prime Minister.

Clad in a dark blue suit and shaded by sunglasses, Ogeta’s trembling steps and visible unease drew immediate attention as he entered the hall.

Guided by Narok Senator Ledama Olekina, he paused to embrace President William Ruto in a gesture that momentarily bridged political divides.

His lips quivered and his hands shook as he slowly made his way to his designated seat. Once settled, Ogeta could be seen openly weeping, dabbing at his tears, reflecting a pain mirrored by countless mourners present.

Throughout the ordeal, Olekina stayed close, offering quiet reassurance as the hall fell into a hushed reverence.

The bodyguard’s emotional collapse highlighted the personal connections that often lie behind public roles.

Ogeta had remained a steadfast companion to Raila through decades of political battles, victories, and setbacks, making his grief an intimate expression of loss for those who knew the ODM leader best.

Behind the dark glasses and composed facades, Ogeta has borne a profound emotional burden. In Raila’s final days in India, he was among the few who stayed near, silently witnessing the closing chapter of a life dedicated to public service.
