2025 National Prayer Breakfast moved to May 28

Traditionally, the event is held on the last Thursday of the month.
This year’s National Prayer Breakfast has been moved from its usual Thursday slot to Wednesday, May 28, in a change announced by Parliament.
The 22nd Annual National Prayer Breakfast, which is organised by Parliament and held every year in May, will take place at the Safari Park Hotel. Traditionally, the event is held on the last Thursday of the month.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula officially announced the change through a communication to the House on April 30.
The prayer breakfast is an inter-denominational event that brings together leaders from various sectors for prayer, reflection, and national re-dedication.
President William Ruto will attend as the chief guest, with several invited dignitaries also expected.
This year’s theme is ‘Rise and Rebuild’, which calls for unity and renewal across political, economic, and social spheres.
"It is an opportunity for national reflection and unity at a time when our country seeks renewal across key sectors," said Wetang’ula.
A pre-event for women, which had also been set for May 28, has been rescheduled to Tuesday. The Women’s Convention will focus on leadership, inclusion, and empowerment among female lawmakers.
"All women Members of Parliament are encouraged to attend this important session," Wetang’ula added.
The National Prayer Breakfast is one of Kenya’s most unifying events, anchored by bipartisan and interfaith support from the August House.
"The National Prayer Breakfast is more than a tradition; it is a testament to the enduring values that hold our nation together," Wetang’ula said.
The 2024 edition follows last year’s gathering held on May 30 at the same venue, which was held under the theme ‘Hope’.
The first National Prayer Breakfast was held in 2002 after the election of a new President and Parliament, through a joint effort by the Bunge Fellowship and several breakfast groups.
