Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale is now urging President William Ruto and ODM chief Raila Odinga to engage former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to foster national unity.

Speaking at Makutano Market in Mautuma Ward, Lugari Constituency, on March 30, Khalwale urged the two leaders to heed Gachagua’s concerns and find a way to address them, cautioning that ignoring the former DP could create a sense of exclusion, which might enable him to advance a divisive narrative.

“When Your Excellency, the President, and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga decided to work together, your goal was to unite all Kenyans,” Khalwale remarked.

“If you genuinely want to foster unity, President Ruto, reach out to Rigathi, have a conversation with him, and hear his concerns.”

The Senator pointed out the importance of dialogue between Ruto, Raila, and Gachagua in promoting inclusivity.

“We do not want Rigathi to keep saying that Kikuyus are being left out of the national agenda. Kikuyus should be treated just like Luhyas, Luos, Kalenjins, and every other Kenyan,” he asserted.

Khalwale also condemned security agencies for attempting to interfere with Gachagua’s public gatherings in Kajiado and Naivasha over the weekend.

“I saw Gachagua holding meetings in Kajiado and Naivasha, and I also saw a heavy police presence. No! That is not right,” he said.

His remarks come amid intensified political activity, with President Ruto set to visit the Mount Kenya region this week.
