Former world 10km record-holder Kibiwott Kandie has been suspended for failing to submit to drug testing. It could lead to a four year ban for the Commonwealth Games Bronze medalist.

Kandie has been stopped from competing in races around the world by the World Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for allegedly missing a drug test despite being informed of the test and being in a position to attend it but still failing to do so, sources told Radio Generation Sport.

A successful runner, Kandie has won road and half marathon races in Brazil, the Czech Republic, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates and is a well respected figure.

Kandie is charged with "evading, refusing or failing to submit to sample collection" by the AIU officials.

The athlete's phone went unanswered several times when Generation Radio Sport reached out for a comment from the under-fire athlete who now joins a long list of Kenyan athletes who have been caught doping.

Kandie, 28, who is also a Commonwealth 10000m bronze medallst broke the world half-marathon record in 2020 with a time of 57:32 in Valencia.

He finished as runner-up to Uganda's Jacob Kiplimo at the 2020 world half marathon championships in Poland.
