Richardson is set to make her long-awaited return to competition this weekend in Tokyo.
Sha'Carri Richardson is set to make her long-awaited return to competition this weekend at the Seiko Golden Grand Prix in Tokyo, Japan, marking her first race since September 2024.
The reigning world 100m champion last competed at the Diamond League final in Brussels, where she finished eighth—a performance that left fans eager for her comeback.
Richardson will headline a strong field in the women’s 100m on Saturday night, May 17 (Sunday morning local time).
The race is scheduled to begin at 1:34 a.m EAT on Sunday, May 18, with coverage streaming live on FloTrack from 11:50 pm ET the night before.
The lineup includes her American teammate Twanisha Terry, Australia's Bree Rizzo, and Japan’s Midori Mikase, Manaka Miura, and Hinami Yamanaka.
Her return follows a standout 2024 season, highlighted by a silver medal in the 100m and a gold in the 4x100m relay at the Paris Olympics.
Richardson, who has become one of track and field’s most electrifying figures, brings both star power and fierce competitiveness back to the circuit.
Ahead of her season debut, Richardson assured fans that she’s in top form.
"I’m in great shape," she said in a recent video shared by fellow athletes Tara Davis and Hunter Woodhall, fueling excitement for what could be another dominant year.
With the 2025 World Athletics Championships set to be held in Tokyo later this year, this weekend’s race carries added significance.
It’s not just a return—it’s a statement. Richardson is back, and she’s ready to reclaim her place at the top of the sprinting world.
