Uganda Cranes Squad in Egypt ahead of World Cup Qualifier

The bulk of the Uganda Cranes squad is already in Egypt ahead of a crucial 2026 World Cup Qualifier against Mozambique on Thursday.
Majority of the Cranes squad which is made up of local-based players touched down in North Africa on Saturday to begin preparations.
The Cranes are hoping to qualify for their first-ever World Cup.
Uganda will face Group G rivals Mozambique on March 20 at the Cairo International Stadium before hosting Guinea on March 25 at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala.
The Cranes are currently fifth in Group G with 6 points.
They are however just three points behind joint leaders Algeria and Mozambique. A win away from home would be a fantastic return for experienced coach Paul Put.
Group G comprises Algeria, Mozambique, Botswana, Guinea, Uganda and Somalia.
The group winner qualifies for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Four of the nine group runners-up qualify for a playoff to determine Africa's representative at the Intercontinental qualifying playoff
