League title is gone: Gor coach accepts Premier League title unlikely

Monday's Mashemeji Derby between Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards held in Homa Bay provided K'ogalo with an opportunity to directly impact the KPL title race with two matches left to play but instead it ended up in a frustrating 1-1 draw.
Gor Mahia coach Zedekiah Zico Otieno says that it will be tough to see the club retain their Kenya Premier League title this season.
Monday's Mashemeji Derby between Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards held in Homa Bay provided K'ogalo with an opportunity to directly impact the KPL title race with two matches left to play but instead it ended up in a frustrating 1-1 draw.
The result left Gor six points behind leaders Kenya Police with just two matches left to play, one of which will be between the current top two on the final day of the season.
According to Zico, who is handling Gor on an interim basis following Serbian coach Sinisa Mihic's exit last month, it is not easy to fathom a situation where Gor are league champions.
"Unfortunately, with the way the season has gone, I don't foresee us winning the league. It looks like it is gone," he said in the aftermath of the draw on Monday.
Police know that a point versus Shabana at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos next week Wednesday will see them crowned KPL champions and Zico says that they can now only focus on the Football Kenya Federation FKF Cup now called the Mozzart Bet Cup.
"We have the Mozzart Bet Cup final, which will be an important match for us," he posted.
Gor take on Ulinzi Stars and Police before tackling Nairobi United in their pursuit of silverware.
