Spurs announced in a statement that the Australian would leave the club this summer despite the fact that he won the club it's first trophy in nearly two decades recently.

Following days of unending rumours over his future, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has been shown the door by the English Premier League Club on Friday.

Spurs announced in a statement that the Australian would leave the club this summer despite the fact that he won the club it's first trophy in nearly two decades recently.

"Following a review of performances and after significant reflection, the Club can announce that Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties, the club said in a statement Friday evening.

Postecoglu joined the North London club from Scottish giants Celtic in the summer of 2023 and oversaw a period of change on the pitch, returning Spurs to the attacking brand of football that has traditionally been associated with the Club, while writing a new chapter in their history by leading them to UEFA Europa League glory in Bilbao last month by beating Manchester United 1-0.

"We are extremely grateful to Ange for his commitment and contribution during his two years at the Club. Ange will always be remembered as only the third manager in our history to deliver a European trophy, alongside legendary figures Bill Nicholson and Keith Burkinshaw," the statement added.

Rumours in the British Media in the days after the Europa League success had stated that there was serious uncertainty whether the Ausi's time at Spurs would continue.

However, the Tottenham Board, led by Daniel Levy, has unanimously concluded that it is in the best interests of the Club for a change to take place.

Postecoglu, in a statement, was proud of his achievements at the club.

"When I reflect on my time as Manager of Tottenham Hotspur, my overriding emotion is one of pride.

"The opportunity to lead one of England's historic football clubs and bring back the glory it deserves will live with me for a lifetime.

"Sharing that experience with all those who truly love this club and seeing the impact it had on them is something I will never forget, he said in a rejoinder.

Tottenham finished the season with 38 points in the English Premier League, managing a paltry 17th place on the log, just above the relegation places, their worst finish in several years.

The club believes that it has a talented squad that they feel is capable of finishing higher in the league.
