Tennis: Wimbledon winner to earn £3 million prize money in 2025

In a move that will see the main tournament proponents earn extra, in a bid to attract more high-quality performances, the organisers believe that rewarding athletes is a key part of making their tournament the most prestigious in Tennis.
Wimbledon has increased its prize money for this year's championships to £53.5 million (Approximately Sh9.2 billion), a seven per cent increase on 2024 and double what they offered a decade ago, the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) said on Thursday.
In a move that will see the main tournament proponents earn extra, in a bid to attract more high-quality performances, the organisers believe that rewarding athletes is a key part of making their tournament the most prestigious in Tennis.
The singles champions will receive £3 million each (Approximately Sh522 million), an 11.1 per cent increase on the prize money Carlos Alcaraz and Barbora Krejcikova took home last year.
Singles players who exit the first round will receive £66,000, a 10 per cent increase on last year.
This year's edition will be hosted from Monday, 30 June to Sunday, 13 July 2025.
Wimbledon is the third of four Grand Slam Events held each year. Grand Slams are the biggest events in the yearly Tennis calendar.
The Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open are the four Grand Slam events.
