CS Mvurya names new board members for Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya

Mvurya appointed Professor Mohamed Mraja and Peter Omingo to serve for a three-year term starting June 20, 2025.
In a move aimed at strengthening Kenya’s fight against performance-enhancing drug use in sports, Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya has appointed two new members to the board of the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK).
According to a gazette notice, Mvurya appointed Professor Mohamed Mraja and Peter Omingo to serve for a three-year term starting June 20, 2025.
The appointments come amid increased pressure on Kenya from international athletics bodies to curb doping violations, which have tarnished the country’s global sporting image.
The new board members are tasked with supporting ADAK’s mission to protect clean athletes and promote fair competition in all sports disciplines across the country.
Earlier in the year, World Athletics President Lord Sebastian Coe commended Kenya’s commitment to eradicating doping in athletics, praising the government’s $5 million (Sh645,750,000) annual investment in the fight against the menace.
Lord Coe acknowledged the significant strides Kenya has made, particularly since the country was on the verge of sanctions two years ago due to rising doping cases.
CS Mvurya reaffirmed the government’s dedication to ensuring clean competition.
“The Government of Kenya remains committed to availing resources every year to enhance sensitization, testing, investigations, and compliance awareness among athletes,” said Mvurya.
