In Summary

Rachier is hoping that a season which saw the club finish trophyless and saw continued angst and fighting between players, fans and coaching staff can be closed and buried forever.

Gor Mahia fans should expect changes to their playing unit, with chairperson Ambrose Rachier saying that he hopes to complete contractual issues with players expected to leave the club before making official announcements.

Rachier is hoping that a season which saw the club finish trophyless and saw continued angst and fighting between players, fans and coaching staff can be closed and buried forever.

Just yesterday, Gor fired the entire technical bench led by interim coach Zedekiah Zico Otieno and his staff and according to Rachier, it doesn't stop there.

“We have players whose contracts have expired. Those we feel deserve renewals will be considered,” Rachier stated. “Those who haven’t met the performance threshold will also be released after analysis by professional coaches and based on their overall output, he said in a press conference.

“Everything will be done on mutual grounds to avoid FIFA-related disputes,” he said. "Players who wish to leave the club will have their cases handled separately, with negotiations aimed at ensuring amicable exits for all our players, he added.

Gor have previously been censured by FIFA and CAF over similar issues, especially involving foreign players.

The record Kenya Premier League winners, announced Wednesday that they would part ways with Interim head coach Zedekiah Zico Otieno who oversaw their trophyless end to the season.

Zico, who joined Gor as assistant coach at the onset of the 2024/25 season, was bizarrely twice appointed interim coach following changes made in the course of the season by Gor management. Zico first took over in November 2024 following the dismissal of Leonardo Neiva and again in May 2025 after Sinisa Mihic resigned.

“Gor Mahia Football Club wishes to inform its supporters, stakeholders, and the general public that it has mutually agreed with the entire technical bench, including members of the team security, to part ways, effective 2nd July 2025.

"This decision follows a comprehensive internal review and is part of the Club's broader restructuring process aimed at strengthening its technical and operational capacity in preparation for the upcoming 2025/26 season,” read part of the statement.

Gor finished the KPL season second behind winners Kenya Police FC and were beaten by Nairobi United in the final of the FKF Mozzart Bet Cup last weekend, leaving the usually hard to please Gor fans unhappy.
