Kenya under 20 international Aldrine Kibet is set to join Spanish La Liga side Celta Vigo, reports coming out of the player's camp have said.

According to various journalists in Kenya, Kibet, who has been a part of the Nastic Sports Academy since 2023, has been heavily linked with Celta, who are keen on the young striker and are looking to bring in the best young African talents to lift the club.

Celta Vigo finished seventh in the Spanish Top Flight last season and boast the likes of Iago Aspas and Marcos Alonso.

The 18 year old, a former student at St Anthony's High School in Kitale, has been a key part of the under 18 and under 20 national teams for the last two years. According to Mozzart Sport, Kibet's parents already traveled to Spain on Sunday to help finalize the deal.

"Reliable sources reveal that Kibet’s parents flew to Spain last night to finalize the highly anticipated transfer. The move would mark a major milestone for the 18-year-old, who has spent the past year developing in Spain, the report on Mozzart Sport said.

On Sunday evening, Kenyan politician and Nairobi Women's Representative Esther Passaris tweeted that Kibet would join Celta in a 6 million euro deal, a report that brought social media to a standstill.

"Kenyan wonderkid Aldrine Kibet has completed a 6 million Euro transfer to Spanish La Liga side Celta Vigo. The 18 year old under 20 star's move marks a major milestone in his football journey, elevating him from local hero to a rising force on the global stage, she said on her X page.

Kibet joined Nastic in September 2023 to represent the national U18 team at the CECAFA Championship, where Kenya finished second after losing to Uganda.

In 2024, he played a key role in Kenya's qualification for the U20 AFCON, scoring five goals during the qualifiers in Tanzania. He featured in the final tournament, where Kenya exited at the group stage.
