The English Premier League returned with a bang in Matchweek 7, serving up statement wins, narrow escapes, and fresh twists in the title race. Arsenal tightened their grip at the top of the Premier League table, Chelsea turned on the style, and Manchester United showed resilience when it mattered most.

Bournemouth 3-1 Fulham

Bournemouth made a statement under the Friday night lights, delivering a dominant 3-1 win over Fulham. Antoine Semenyo was the star of the show, scoring twice in a lively first half that had Fulham chasing shadows. Justin Kluivert added a third after the break to cap off a complete performance. Fulham’s response through Harry Wilson came too late to change the momentum. Bournemouth’s intensity, pressing and direct attacking play overwhelmed Fulham, who struggled to control the midfield and contain Semenyo’s pace.

Leeds United 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham climbed to third place with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Leeds at Elland Road, bringing an end to the hosts’ impressive 23-game unbeaten home run. Spurs took the lead in the 23rd minute when Mathys Tel’s low shot deflected off Pascal Struijk and wrong-footed Karl Darlow. Leeds responded strongly, and Noah Okafor levelled before the break after pouncing on a rebound from Brenden Aaronson’s effort.

The winner came in the 57th minute through Mohammed Kudus, who beat his marker on the right before firing home a powerful half-volley for his first Tottenham goal. Leeds pushed for an equalizer with their trademark high press, but Spurs’ backline held firm under pressure.

Arsenal 2-0 West Ham United

Arsenal extended their good run on form with a composed 2–0 victory over West Ham at the Emirates Stadium, keeping pace in the title race. The Gunners controlled the tempo from the outset, dominating possession and pinning West Ham deep in their half. Their persistence paid off in the 38th minute when former Hammer Declan Rice struck a powerful shot from the edge of the box to give Arsenal the lead. The moment carried extra weight given Rice’s history with the visitors, and it ignited the home crowd.

West Ham rarely threatened going forward, struggling to bypass Arsenal’s organized press. In the second half, the hosts remained in control and doubled their advantage when Bukayo Saka calmly converted from the penalty spot in the 67th minute after being brought down in the box. Despite losing captain Martin Ødegaard to an early knee injury, Arsenal showed maturity to see out the game comfortably.

Manchester United 2-0 Sunderland

Manchester United delivered a timely win at Old Trafford, overcoming Sunderland 2-0 amid mounting pressure on coach Ruben Amorim. The hosts struck early with Mason Mount opening the scoring, and Benjamin Šeško added a second goal before halftime to settle the contest. Sunderland were awarded a penalty just before the break, but VAR intervened and overturned the decision. United then controlled large portions of the second half, managing the game efficiently and restricting Sunderland to few clear chances. Debutant goalkeeper Senne Lammens impressed with key saves late on, preserving the clean sheet.

Newcastle United 2-0 Nottingham Forest

Newcastle bounced back to form with a strong 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest at St. James’ Park, piling more pressure on Forest manager Ange Postecoglou. The first goal came in the 58th minute when Bruno Guimarães unleashed a stunning long-range strike that dipped past goalkeeper Matz Sels. Later in stoppage time, Nick Woltemade converted a penalty after Forest were penalized for a foul on Guimarães, securing the win.

Despite a decent effort in the first half, Forest couldn’t crack Newcastle’s defence, their only goal threat was a few half-chances blocked or saved. Guimarães’ brilliance and Woltemade’s composure from the spot were enough to keep the Magpies on top. Newcastle improved their home form, while Forest remain without a win under Postecoglou through seven matches, sliding further down the table.

Chelsea 2-1 Liverpool

Chelsea claimed a dramatic win over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge thanks to a stoppage-time goal by Estêvão Willian, who coolly slotted home in the 95th minute after a low cross from Marc Cucurella. The hosts had gotten ahead earlier through Moisés Caicedo, who struck a blistering long-range effort in the 14th minute to open the scoring. Liverpool responded in the 63rd minute when Cody Gakpo pounced on a flick from Alexander Isak to level, but Chelsea held firm until the final whistle. It’s Liverpool’s third straight defeat in all competitions, and it deals a heavy blow to their title challenge.

Burnley 1-2 Aston Villa

Aston Villa tightened their resurgence with a 2-1 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor. Donyell Malen struck twice, first in the 25th minute from a precise through ball by Boubacar Kamara, then again shortly after the hour mark with a fierce finish into the bottom corner. His brace secured all three points for Villa and marked a strong return to form for Unai Emery’s side. Burnley battled back late through Lesley Ugochukwu, who headed a goal from a corner in the 78th minute to give the hosts hope. But Villa held firm under pressure, defending resolutely until the end.

Everton 2-1 Crystal Palace

Everton produced a dramatic comeback at home to defeat Crystal Palace 2-1, ending the visitors’ 19-game unbeaten run. Palace went ahead via Daniel Muñoz in the first half with a well-placed strike. The hosts responded after the break when Iliman Ndiaye converted a penalty to level the score. In the 93rd minute, Jack Grealish netted his first goal for Everton in stunning fashion, capitalizing on a loose ball to seal the win. The late strike sent the home crowd into ecstasy and delivered a crushing blow to Palace’s momentum.

Brentford 0-1 Manchester City

Manchester City edged Brentford 1-0 at the GTECH Stadium thanks to an early strike from Erling Haaland, who bundled home in the 9th minute to settle a scrappy affair. City dominated large spells but found Brentford stubborn and organized, forcing Guardiola’s side to see out a tight finish as the hosts pushed for an equalizer. Midfielder Rodri was forced off with a hamstring injury in the 22nd minute, giving City a fresh concern ahead of a busy run of fixtures.

The win kept City firmly in the title conversation and extended Haaland’s red-hot run, the Norwegian notched his ninth league goal of the season and continued a remarkable scoring streak that stretches across club and country. The result also marked a milestone for Pep Guardiola, who celebrated his 250th Premier League win as City ground out the three points.
