Former Bandari FC assistant coach John Baraza has quit the coastal club following the appointment of a new technical bench at the club last week.

Baraza, who was named interim manager last week following Ken Odhiambo's exit, has decided to move on following the appointment of Moroccan Mohamed Borji as the club's new boss on Monday.

Tarik Bendanou was unveiled as the new assistant coach at the club and according to Bandari chairperson Tony Kibwana, the club has decided to move in different directions with the former Harambee Stars and Sofapaka striker.

"We met with John Baraza to explain our new plans at the club but unfortunately, after talks, we could not find an agreement and we parted ways with Baraza mutually, he told Radio Generation Sport.

It is understood that the club has asked him to play as an assistant to Borji and Bendanou, but Baraza, who has also coached Mara Sugar and Kakamega Homeboyz is keen on being a head coach himself.

Baraza joined Bandari FC in October 2023 following the sacking of long time head coach Twahir Muhiidin. He was confirmed as the head coach in January 2024 and signed a two-year contract to 2026. He managed 4th place in the 2023–2024 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) season. However, in July 2024 when he was demoted to assistant coach, with former Harambee Stars assistant coach Odhiambo taking over.

Bandari finished 8th in the 2024–2025 season, securing 44 points from 10 wins, 14 draws, and 10 losses, unsatisfactory results for the dockers. They have begun the season with four points from three matches played.
