Already one of the most influential players ever to grace the game, Cristiano Ronaldo has officially become the first billionaire footballer, according to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index, which valued his net worth at over $1.4 billion in October 2025.

How Ronaldo Reached Billionaire Status

Cristiano Ronaldo’s financial ascent is the result of a multi-decade blend of elite salaries, global endorsements, and personal business ventures. Bloomberg’s evaluation—its first time including a footballer, places Ronaldo’s net worth at $1.4 billion, surpassing Lionel Messi and other top athletes.

Key drivers of his wealth include a tax-free contract with Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia worth over £300 million, reportedly earning him £300 per minute, a lifetime deal with Nike, valued at £745 million, plus partnerships with Armani, Tag Heuer, PokerStars, Samsung, and Louis Vuitton.

He will also get ownership stakes in Al Nassr and a growing CR7 brand empire, spanning hotels, gyms, fragrances, and fashion, with Real estate holdings, including a £28 million luxury complex in Portugal.

Bloomberg adjusted all earnings for tax rates and market performance, confirming Ronaldo’s place among the world’s highest-paid athletes.

Legacy and Personal Reflections

At age 40, Ronaldo continues to play for Al Nassr and the Portuguese national team, where he holds the record for most goals in men’s international football (141).

Despite his family urging him to retire, Ronaldo told Canal 11:“I know I don’t have many more years, but the few I have, I try to enjoy to the fullest… I still have a passion for this.”

He recently received the Prestige Award at the Portugal Football Globes, emphasizing that it’s not a farewell honor but recognition of his enduring drive and influence.
