The Composer Lab offers a select group of BMI-affiliated musicians a rare opportunity to sharpen their craft.

In a bold step toward cultivating the next wave of scoring talent, performance rights organization Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) has unveiled the BMI Composer Lab, a new initiative designed to support aspiring composers aiming to break into the worlds of film, television, and video games.

The Composer Lab offers a select group of BMI-affiliated musicians a rare opportunity to sharpen their craft under the guidance of industry veterans.

Participants will receive mentorship, hands-on training, and exposure to the creative and technical demands of composing for visual media — all within a supportive and collaborative environment.

"Supporting the future of music means investing in emerging voices," said a BMI representative.

"With the Composer Lab, we’re creating a pipeline for talented composers to learn, grow, and connect with professional opportunities in entertainment scoring."

Applications for the program are open now through May 30 via bmicomposerlab.slideroom.com.

BMI encourages composers from all musical backgrounds and levels of experience to apply, underscoring its commitment to diversity and innovation within the composition community.

As the demand for original scores in visual media continues to grow, BMI’s Composer Lab arrives at a pivotal time, offering invaluable access to mentorship, real-world experience, and a launching pad for careers in film, TV, and gaming.
