Owino says he’s no longer just debating in Parliament—he’s now ready to battle in courtrooms for Kenyans whose voices go unheard.

From the dusty lanes of Nyalenda slums to the steps of Kenya’s highest court, Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino has officially become an advocate of the High Court, declaring that the fight for justice has now shifted into a higher gear.

With a robe on his back and a mission in his heart, Owino says he’s no longer just debating in Parliament—he’s now ready to battle in courtrooms for Kenyans whose voices go unheard.

"Today marks a historic chapter in my journey—my admission to the Bar as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya," Owino announced on Friday, tying his achievement to a childhood shaped by police brutality and poverty.

The ODM Member of Parliament recalled watching helplessly as his mother was repeatedly arrested and beaten by police officers demanding bribes from her chang’aa business.

"Instead of being arraigned in court, my mother would be beaten up by police to pay a bribe from her meagre chang’aa sales proceeds," Babu Owino said.

These early struggles, he explained, planted a deep resolve to understand the law, not for personal gain, but to protect the rights of ordinary Kenyans who are often left defenceless.

"This achievement is not about personal grandiosity. It is about sharpening the tools of service," the MP said.

Now armed with legal credentials, Owino says the government should prepare for a more intense challenge on issues affecting the public.

"The government should brace itself for more lethal arguments in defense of Kenyans—both in Parliament and now in court," he said.

The MP added that he plans to pursue legal action to push for lower living costs, create employment, and hold institutions accountable.

"The revolution continues—now with a gown and a gavel. So, help me, God," he said.
