Tana River County has officially sworn in new members to its Investment and Corporation Board and the Municipality Board, a strategic move aimed at accelerating the county’s development agenda as it prepares to host a transformative ‘Organic City’ project backed by Canadian investors.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at Governor Dhadho Godhana’s official residence in Hola, presided over by Senior Principal Magistrate Edward Too.

Those appointed to the County Investment and Corporation Board include Gerald Bombe, Musa Abdi, and Salma Mohammed, while Rashid Onchaga was sworn in to serve on the Municipality Board.

Governor Godhana called on the new board members to uphold integrity and professionalism in their roles, urging them to prioritize service delivery and development over political interference.

“This is not just about holding a position it’s about delivering impact,” the governor said. “We must move beyond politics and focus on actions that bring real change to the people of Tana River.”

Godhana revealed that the county is in the final stages of clearing regulatory approvals for a major investment initiative: the ‘Organic City’ project proposed by a group of Canadian investors.

The envisioned development aims to combine sustainable urban living with modern agricultural techniques, potentially positioning Tana River as a model for green growth and eco-friendly urban planning in the region.

County officials say the project could bring significant economic and social benefits, including job creation, skills development, and increased food production.

The formation of the two boards marks a critical step in enhancing the county’s institutional frameworks for investment attraction and public service delivery.

With the boards now in place, Tana River hopes to boost investor confidence and lay the groundwork for long-term socio-economic transformation.
