Premier Bank has launched Premier Connect, a super app that combines six banking services with top-tier security and ethical practices at its core.

The platform is designed to give customers seamless access to retail, corporate, card, and wearable banking while ensuring their information is fully protected.

Joseph Irungu, Head of Digital Innovation & Payments at Premier Bank, described the platform during an interview on Radio Generation in Tuesday.

“We are calling it Premier Connect, it’s like a Super App of a sort, because inside it we have like six applications that allow you to access banking from any perspective, whether you are retail, whether you cooperate, whether you are doing cards, whether you are doing the wearables,” he stated.

Irungu highlighted the bank’s focus on security, explaining, “We have built a platform that is bank-grade, secured, tested through what we do call global standards… our card management system and as a bank, we are PCI DSS compliant.”

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is an information security standard used to handle credit cards from major card brands.

Irungu added that partnering with global brands like MasterCard involves rigorous certification processes to ensure customer information is safe.

“We are committed to security. We are committed to very high standards. We are an ethical bank, and we take cognizance that basis, it can be quite risky,” he said.

Ethical banking, however, remains the foundation of Premier Bank’s operations.

Yahya Dahir, Head of Business, explained that the bank treats its clients as partners rather than customers.

“What makes us ethical is we do not take advantage of a client’s situation,” Dahir said.

He described how the bank works with clients through business highs and lows, restructuring loans to ensure repayment is manageable rather than immediately enforcing punitive measures.

Dahir also emphasized transparency, noting that all charges are clear from the start.

“Every charge that this bank is going to put on your account, yes, is clear to you from the onset before actually you start any transactions with us,” he said.

By combining advanced digital technology with strong ethical principles, Premier Bank aims to provide a secure, transparent, and supportive banking experience, setting a benchmark for responsible financial services in Kenya.
