A long-serving teacher at Alliance Girls High School, Peter Albert Ayiro, has resigned following accusations of sexually grooming and abusing students over more than two decades.

In a resignation letter dated August 17 and addressed to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), Ayiro said he was stepping down with immediate effect, citing what he described as “evil, monstrous, and persistent cyberbullying, threats of physical harm, and public humiliation” after the allegations surfaced.

“This decision has not come easily. It is as a result of the false accusations leveled against me. I continue to endure… threats of physical harm, public humiliation and even being ostracized from my church,” he wrote, adding that these attacks had harmed his character, career, and social standing.

Ayiro, who had served at Alliance Girls for 26 years, expressed gratitude to TSC for the opportunities and experience gained throughout his career. He noted that he had paid Sh 105,000 through M-PESA as one month’s salary in lieu of notice and attached proof of payment to his resignation.

During his tenure, Ayiro held influential roles at the school, including Christian Union patron, drama club mentor, and spiritual advisor.

However, his reputation was tarnished following an investigative report by Africa Uncensored journalist and Alliance alumna Christine Mungai, which detailed multiple claims of sexual grooming and abuse made by former students and staff.

In response to the report, TSC suspended Ayiro for 30 days starting July 15, 2025, to allow investigations into acts described as “professional misconduct.”

The suspension letter, signed by Acting CEO Evaleen Mitei, cited violations of the TSC Act, Regulation 141 of the Code of Regulations for Teachers, and Clause 22 of the Code of Conduct and Ethics.

He was accused of engaging in immoral behavior involving learners, prompting his removal from duty while inquiries continued.

With his resignation now formalized, it remains unclear how TSC will proceed with investigations into the serious allegations that have rocked one of the country’s top national schools.
