Two arrested over illegal job recruitment agency in Mombasa

The suspects, identified as Bilal Dundo Nyanje and Ali Abu Bakari, were arrested during an operation.
Police have arrested two directors of an overseas job recruitment agency accused of operating without a valid licence in Mombasa.
Detectives from the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU), working with officers from Mombasa Central Police Station, raided a premises in the Makadara area where Al-Wajib Investments Ltd was running its operations from a residential building.
The suspects, identified as Bilal Dundo Nyanje and Ali Abu Bakari, were arrested during the operation.
A search of the office recovered an expired National Employment Authority (NEA) registration certificate, two registers, a receipt book, and the agency’s official stamp, which were seized as exhibits.
Police say the suspects are in custody and will be arraigned in court once processing is complete.
The National Police Service has urged Kenyans seeking overseas employment to verify the legitimacy of recruitment agencies.
"The National Police Service (NPS) urges members of the public seeking employment opportunities abroad to verify recruitment agencies through the National Employment Authority (NEA). Only agencies duly accredited by NEA are legally authorised to carry out recruitment for overseas jobs," said the National Police Service.
Meanwhile, police have arrested a suspect in Gatanga, Murang’a County, in a crackdown on illegal drugs.
A multi-agency security team, acting on a tip-off from the public, raided Ngesha Village in Ithangarari Sub-Location earlier on Tuesday.
The operation involved officers from Kirwara Police Station and National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) from Kigio Location.
During the search, the suspect was found in possession of 26 rolls of bhang.
He was immediately arrested and escorted to Kirwara Police Station, where he remains in custody pending processing and arraignment.
