Assistant Chief flees after allegedly drugging and molesting boys in Gatundu

The suspect, who serves as the assistant chief of Kamunyu sub-location, is alleged to have committed the offences on April 20.
A senior official in Gatundu South Sub-County is reportedly on the run after being accused of sexually abusing two boys below the age of 18, an incident that has triggered public anger in the area.
The suspect, who serves as the assistant chief of Kamunyu sub-location, is alleged to have committed the offences on April 20 within the very village where he was born, brought up, and currently serves in his official capacity.
Fearing mob justice, he fled after learning that angry locals were looking for him.
According to one of the victims, the administrator first served him Muratina, a potent traditional brew, before sexually assaulting him while he was unconscious.
The minor recalled going to the chief's homestead with two friends to deliver milk when the administrator invited them into a separate house and offered them alcohol.
After his friends left to care for a recently circumcised peer nearby, the boy, now alone, became heavily intoxicated. He regained consciousness at home, disoriented and covered in mud, only to find himself bleeding profusely.
A medical examination confirmed that he had been sexually violated, prompting his family to file a report at Gatundu Police Station under OB No. 04/24/04/25.
That same evening, the administrator is reported to have followed the two boys to a neighboring homestead.
One of the victims recounted how the chief confronted him, inquiring about his circumcision status before groping him and ordering him to lie on a bed.
Terrified, the boy resisted, pushing the assailant away and fleeing into the night. Both minors have since provided statements to authorities but remain in fear, confining themselves indoors while the administrator remains at large.
Local parents, including Mary Wambui and Jane Njoki, expressed their shock, describing the accused as a once-respected community figure who had even pursued studies for the priesthood.
"How does a man entrusted with upholding law and order turn into a predator?" Wambui questioned.
The administrator is accused of attempting to bribe the families of the victims in an effort to prevent them from speaking out.
Residents are now concerned that this may not be an isolated incident, with claims suggesting that previous victims were also silenced through financial settlements.
Rose Chege, the Assistant County Commissioner for Gatundu South, has confirmed the occurrence, assuring that security forces are actively searching for the fugitive administrator.
"The victims have undergone medical examinations, and we are committed to ensuring justice prevails," Chege stated.
She also expressed disappointment with the community for not reporting earlier cases, which allowed the suspect to avoid being held accountable.
