The PSV operator said it's working diligently to address the outstanding compliance issues.

The Transport Licensing Appeals Board has directed public service vehicle operator Super Metro to suspend operations for the next three days to finalize on compliance measures.

In a statement on its social media platforms, Super Metro said it had achieved 90% compliance with the directives issued by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and the Transport Licensing Appeals Board (TLAB).

"Following a hearing with the Transport Licensing Appeals Board today, the Board has directed Super Metro Limited to suspend operations for the next three days to finalize the remaining compliance measures," read the statement.

"Super Metro Limited fully respects the decisions of the TLAB and the court."

The PSV operator said it's working diligently to address the outstanding compliance issues within the stipulated timeframe and will resume operations as soon as they receive approval from the relevant authorities.

"We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this temporary suspension may cause to our customers and stakeholders. Super Metro Limited remains dedicated to providing safe, reliable, and efficient transport services, and we appreciate your understanding and support during this period," concluded the statement.

In March, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) suspended Super Metro Limited’s operator licence until the company fully complies with the Public Service Vehicles Regulations, 2014, and other set conditions.

According to NTSA, it conducted a comprehensive analysis of Super Metro and found that out of its 523 vehicles, 15 had expired inspection certificates, and eight had expired Road Service Licences (RSL).

NTSA also found that several drivers from the sacco do not meet the required qualifications, which presents a major safety risk.

The suspension was later lifted, and Super Metro vehicles were allowed to resume operations after the Transport Licensing Appeal Board temporarily lifted the suspension imposed by the National Transport and Safety Authority.

The Board, in an order issued on Monday,  March 24, 2025, gave the transport company the green light to resume operations immediately.

"An interim order is hereby issued staying the execution, enforcement, or operation of the decision of the respondents dated March 18, 2025, suspending the operation of the appellant herein Super Metro Sacco Limited as a PSV operator," the order by board chairman Adrian Kamotho read in part.
