In Summary

Tusker now move top of the KPL with 51 points from 27 matches played.

Dennis Wanjala was the man of the moment for Tusker FC as his early effort saw the Brewers claim the lead in the Kenya Premier League title race with a 1-0 victory over bottom-placed City Stars.

Wanjala 's fifth-minute effort was noteworthy as he beat City Stars goalkeeper Edwin Mukolwe from over 40 metres to open the scoring for the lead-chasing Brewers. Just the perfect start.

Tusker should have been out of sight by halftime had it not been for poor finishing.

Lawrence Luvanda missed a golden opportunity twice, on 23 and 42 minutes, both times shooting wide to deny his side a second goal.

His counterpart, Deogratius Ojok, was also guilty of wayward finishing as the match went to halftime with the Brewers still at 1-0.

The second half began with City Stars reduced to ten men when Wycliffe Omondi was sent off for two quick yellow cards on 54 minutes, leaving Tusker to complete a big win that now moves them outright top of the KPL with 51 points from 27 matches played.

Kenya Police are second with 49 points from a similar number of games played while Gor Mahia are third with 47 points but from 26 played.

Elsewhere, Shabana scored a 4-2 win away at Talanta FC to move to fourth on the log with 43 points.

They are now just seven points behind leaders, Tusker FC.

Bidco United moved out of the relegation places with a 2-0 success over Mathare United, while in Murang'a, the Seal were held to a goalless draw by Kariobangi Sharks.
