The draft approved by the cabinet and the proposed will be presented to the Federal Parliament for debate and approval by the House of the People of the Federal Government of Somalia.

The legislation aimed at strengthening regulations to manage these cables.

This includes setting rules for landing rights, security, and environmental protection.

Alongside regulation, many countries are reviewing their progress in expanding cable infrastructure.

These reviews assess connectivity levels, international partnerships, and integration with inland networks.

They also help identify gaps, guide future investments, and improve resilience in case of disruptions.

Effective regulation and regular progress reviews ensure countries stay competitive in the digital economy and provide reliable, high-speed internet access.

The Council was briefed on preparations for the upcoming Independence Week celebrations and the 2025 National Examinations, set to officially commence on Saturday across the country’s regions.

Ali Yussuf, the Minister for Internal Security and his Defense counterpart, Ahmed Maalim Fiqi, presented reports on ongoing security operations, stabilization efforts, and intensified campaigns to eradicate insurgent groups fighting to topple the internationally recognized Somali government.

The Council commended the bravery of the Somali National Armed Forces and local fighters who continue to sacrifice their lives to defend the nation.

During the meeting, the council committed to advancing security, education, and critical infrastructure to foster stability and progress for all Somalis.
