The Sudan Doctors Network condemned the killings and destruction of homes.

A fresh wave of violence in West Kordofan has claimed the lives of at least 74 people following an assault by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) assault on Al-Zafa village, according to the Sudan Doctors Network.

In a statement, the group accused RSF forces of carrying out a "heinous massacre" in Al-Udaiya locality.

"The force overran the village, liquidating 74 people, including 12 children and 9 women, while 178 others were injured," the Network said.

The doctors condemned the killings and destruction of homes, stating the RSF had shown disregard for "the most basic human rights that criminalise the killing of unarmed civilians, looting their property, and burning their homes."

They also criticised what they called the global community’s silence.

The group appealed to the United Nations and international organisations to take urgent steps to hold the RSF accountable and end the widespread abuses taking place in Sudan’s conflict zones.

West Kordofan has been a key battleground in the civil war between the RSF and the Sudanese army.

The RSF controls most of the region, including Al-Fulah, while the army maintains presence in Babanusa and Al-Nahud.

The army’s recent victory in lifting the siege on El-Obeid was meant to set the stage for further operations against RSF strongholds.

But the killing in Al-Zafa village has once again brought global attention to the cost of war on civilians trapped in contested areas.
