Old boy Mboya earns Posta Rangers win over struggling AFC Leopards

A tenth-minute finish from Owen Mboya earned Posta Rangers a much-needed 1-0 win over the struggling AFC Leopards on Good Friday, condemning Ingwe to yet another damaging defeat in Kenya Premier League action.
Mboya finished with precision following amazing wing play by the creative veteran midfielder Shami Mwinyi, who beat Samuel Semo down the left then delivered a sumptuous cross that Mboya could not miss to hand the mailmen the advantage.
Leopards, who have had a tough time on the pitch, were uninspiring all game long, and with an unusually small crowd supporting them at the Machakos Stadium, they failed to fire.
Kevin Kimani and Victor Omune had half chances to try and push the 1998 champions back into the match in the first half, but they provided weak finishes to the frustration of their fans as it ended 1-0 to Rangers at half time.
During the break, Leopards coach Fred Ambani brought on Christopher Koloti and Victor Otieno to try to lift the Leopards.
Otieno had a shot from distance go wide on 53 minutes as the clock motored towards the final whistle.
Rangers themselves had an opportunity to add to their lead with 20 to go, but Mboya fluffed his lines.
Brian Yakhama and Clifton Miheso were brought on by Ambani for Omune and Kimani with 15 minutes to go as they chased an equaliser, but Posta held firm to hand head coach Sammy Omolo a big win.
The win was much needed for Rangers, who are battling relegation and now move to 28 points from 27 matches played.
They are now three points ahead of Murang'a Seal, who occupy the first relegation place with 25 points. City Stars are bottom with 24 points.
Leopards are seventh with 36 points from 26 matches, but could end up as low as ninth depending on Saturday and Sunday fixtures.
