The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced that its Integrated Customs Management System (iCMS) will be unavailable for eight hours on Sunday due to scheduled maintenance.
The exercise will begin at 4:00 am and is expected to end at 12:00 pm on September 14, 2025.
In a statement issued on September 12, the authority said, “Please be advised that there will be a scheduled maintenance of iCMS from Sunday, September 14, 2025, 4 am to Sunday, September 14, 2025, 12 pm. We regret any inconvenience caused.”
KRA explained that the downtime will affect all stakeholders who depend on the system for day-to-day operations, including importers, exporters, and clearing agents.
“KRA informs all stakeholders that there will be a scheduled maintenance of iCMS,” the notice added, urging users to plan their transactions early to avoid delays.
The iCMS is an online platform that manages customs processes such as clearance of goods at ports, payment of taxes, and tracking of cargo entering or leaving the country.
During the downtime, these services will not be accessible, which could temporarily affect trade activities that depend on the system.
KRA noted that the temporary suspension will impact services like cargo clearance, duty payment processing, and consignment tracking.
As a result, users will not be able to submit documents or receive clearance within the eight-hour maintenance period.
The iCMS was introduced in 2019 to replace the Simba system, offering a more efficient and transparent process for customs management. It is seen as central to Kenya’s efforts to facilitate trade while securing borders from illegal goods.
