In Summary

The initiative as explained by Kevin Mathews Okeyo, Senior Manager, Digital Experience (Digital Financial Services) at KCB is part of the bank’s ongoing efforts to digitize operations, simplify banking, and provide convenient access to financial services anywhere in the world.

KCB Bank has rolled out a revamped mobile banking application aimed at delivering a complete digital banking experience for its customers.

The initiative as explained by Kevin Mathews Okeyo, Senior Manager, Digital Experience (Digital Financial Services) at KCB, is part of the bank’s ongoing efforts to digitize operations, simplify banking, and provide convenient access to financial services anywhere in the world.

“The digital financial services, that’s DFS team within the KCB group, is the department that is tasked with digitizing the bank’s operations, making work easier for both our stakeholders, our colleagues, and our customers,” he said on Tuesday during an interview with Radio Generation.

Redefining Banking for the Modern Customer

The bank has been a pioneer in Kenya’s digital banking sector, offering mobile and internet banking long before many of its peers.

The new app is the result of months of collaboration with customers to understand their evolving needs.

“Technology has really, let me say, shifted. Phones have been upgraded. There is more powerful technology that is out there, and when we did an assessment, we reached out to our customers and realized that their needs have actually shifted,” Okeyo said.

The updated KCB Mobile Banking App enables users to open accounts digitally, access savings products, start fixed deposits, and save for personal goals like holidays or education.

The platform also allows seamless payment of utility bills, including KPLC tokens and water bills, and even splitting bills with friends.

“What we’re looking at is creating an ecosystem, or a platform that allows our customers to be able to embed the app within their lifestyle, so that you don’t have to really worry too much about movement of funds. You’re able to view your real-time balances from within the app, and you are able to enjoy the full suite of what the platform has to offer,” Okeyo emphasized.

To use the app, customers simply download it from the Google Play Store, iOS App Store, or App Gallery, and complete a digital registration in less than five minutes.

The process includes verification using selfies and other documentation, after which users can instantly access a wide range of banking services.

KCB has also ensured that its mobile banking services are accessible internationally.

“If you’re out of the country, the application works wherever you are,” Okeyo confirmed, adding that customers within the East African Community and beyond, including Dubai, can use the app seamlessly.

With this launch, KCB strengthens its commitment to providing technology-driven, customer-centered banking solutions that cater to the needs of a modern, mobile-first generation
