Former Law Society of Kenya Chief Nelson Havi has called on Kenyans to support former Chief Justice David Maraga in the 2027 presidential race.

His appeal follows recent explosive claims made by former Attorney General and Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi against President William Ruto, which have sparked a range of reactions.

In a statement posted on his official X account on Saturday, April 5, 2025, Havi highlighted that the recent revelations are among the reasons why Kenyans should support Maraga for president.

Additionally, the lawyer cautioned Kenyans against making excuses for not supporting Maraga as the next president. Havi emphasized that the country has no alternative but to elect Maraga.

"All these revelations are why you must choose David Maraga for president. Don't tell me he lacks strength, money, influence, or the corrupt traits seen in those in power. The choice is entirely yours. In fact, you have no choice but to elect him," Havi asserted.

Havi, who has been advocating for Maraga's presidency, stated last month that Kenyans should seek a competent woman to serve as his deputy.

He specifically endorsed activist Jerotich Seii as the ideal candidate to deputize Maraga in the 2027 presidential race, which is expected to feature President William Ruto alongside several other declared contenders.

In a harsh rebuke of President Ruto, Muturi described the Head of State as an irredeemably corrupt individual.

Speaking on a local TV station's morning talk show on Friday, April 4, 2025, Muturi questioned Ruto's credibility on the issue of corruption, stating that the president is not in a position to speak out against graft, given his own tainted record.

"When I hear William Ruto telling members of his cabinet, 'I do not want to see corruption in my government,' I can't help but wonder, 'Who is this person talking?'" Muturi remarked.

"He is absolutely, irredeemably corrupt," he added.
