A routine drop-off of a woman to her house by a boda boda rider in Molo Sub-County, Nakuru, turned chaotic as the woman's husband, a DCI officer, allegedly shot the rider.

A police report indicated the incident occurred on Wednesday night when the rider, identified as Keitanyi, had just dropped off the officer’s wife at her residence.

Keitanyi, who is currently receiving treatment in hospital, claims that the officer confronted him immediately after the drop-off, questioning him about his wife.

He alleges that the officer then shot him in the head and subjected him to further torture.

"I picked up a passenger who asked me to take her home in Ole Polos. When we arrived, I dropped her off at the second gate. That’s when I saw an older man waiting there,” Keitanyi said.

"The man then started questioning me about where I had come from with his wife. He harassed me and demanded that I push the motorbike to his place. I found myself bleeding badly and struggled to get away,” he added.

Keitanyi’s family is demanding justice over the incident.

“We want justice because the medical bills alone have already surpassed 800,000 Kenya shillings,” said his father, Simon Kosgei.

According to police reports, the suspect is currently in custody, and his pistol, loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition, has been confiscated.

Keitanyi has also provided a statement to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) about the incident.

He's set to undergo brain surgery on Saturday, March 29, over the shooting.
