The County Government of Siaya, has commissioned the Olago Water Project in Nyangoma Division, Bondo Sub-County.

The initiative will provide residents of Central Sakwa, South Sakwa, and parts of North Sakwa wards with a reliable supply of clean water.

The project, being implemented by DNT Engineers, is expected to generate 2,500 cubic liters of water upon completion.

During the launch of the project, Siaya Governor James Orengo emphasized that once fully restored and operational, the project will benefit approximately 8,400 households and various learning institutions in the region.

"This project will be fully operational in six months, guaranteeing a steady supply of clean water," Orengo announced.

He further revealed that expansion plans are in place to extend the water supply to Got Abiero, Alara, and Akoko.

To enhance sustainability, he added that a new pump would be installed at the site to ensure a reliable power supply, facilitating uninterrupted water production for the community.

Orengo stated that plans are in place to integrate solar power into all water projects to reduce the high electricity costs and enhance water production.

He noted that excessive dependence on electricity has led to the failure of many water projects in the county.

He assured residents that his campaign prioritizes the provision of safe, clean, and accessible water for both drinking and agricultural use.
