TSC revealed that unsuspecting applicants are being asked to pay large sums for fraudulent papers, falsely promised employment in return.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has raised alarm over an emerging scam involving fraudsters posing as recruitment agents and conning job seekers with fake employment letters and registration documents.

In a public notice issued via its verified Facebook page on Sunday, July 20, 2025, the Commission cautioned that conmen are taking advantage of desperate graduates by exploiting their eagerness to secure teaching jobs.

“We wish to alert all aspiring teachers and the public about the growing threat of conmen peddling counterfeit TSC employment letters and registration papers. Please note these documents are FAKE,” the statement read.

TSC revealed that unsuspecting applicants are being asked to pay large sums for fraudulent papers, falsely promised employment in return.

The Commission stressed that it does not use intermediaries in its recruitment process and warned the public to be wary of individuals claiming to act on its behalf.

“These fraudsters exploit trust and charge exorbitant fees for documents that have no value or official backing,” the statement noted.

Reaffirming its commitment to fairness and transparency, TSC reiterated that all recruitment is done through official Commission channels and strictly based on merit.

“No applicant should pay for employment. If someone asks you for money in exchange for a job, that is a scam,” the Commission stated.

Kenyans were urged to verify any job-related information through the official TSC website or by visiting TSC offices in person. The public is also encouraged to report any suspicious dealings to law enforcement or TSC authorities.

“We all have a duty to protect the integrity of the teaching profession. Let’s keep our education system credible,” TSC concluded.

The alert comes in the wake of increased complaints online and in the media, pointing to a rise in fake job rings specifically targeting fresh graduates.

Aspiring teachers have been urged to remain vigilant and avoid falling prey to quick-fix job scams.
