The Kenya School of Law has issued a 60-day window for law graduates seeking admission into its Advocates Training Programme (ATP), with the application deadline set for October 31, 2025.

In a public notice on Tuesday, September 2, the institution confirmed that applications for the 2026 academic year were officially open. The ATP is scheduled to begin on February 9, 2026.

“The Kenya School of Law invites applications for admission to its programmes for the 2026 Academic Year. Qualified applicants are encouraged to apply,” the notice stated.

KSL further emphasized the urgency, saying: “Advocates Training Programme (ATP) – 2026/2027 Academic Year - Applications are open for the ATP beginning February 9, 2026.

The timeline for submission of applications is October 31, 2025.”

The ATP is a compulsory postgraduate programme that law graduates must complete before being admitted to the Kenyan Bar.

It is structured to provide practical legal skills, focusing on areas such as civil and criminal litigation, legal drafting, conveyancing, commercial law, probate, and professional ethics.

The training is delivered in two stages. Students first undergo lectures and tutorials at the KSL campus, after which they are required to complete six months of pupillage under the supervision of a senior advocate.

Successful completion of both phases, together with passing the final examinations, qualifies a candidate for admission as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

At the same time, the school also invited applications for the pre-bar examination, which will be conducted on January 12, 2026. Interested applicants must register by December 12, 2025.

The pre-bar exam serves as a crucial entry requirement for admission into the ATP, particularly for graduates from foreign universities and some local institutions.

It is intended to test core legal knowledge, language proficiency, and professional readiness to ensure high standards in the legal profession.
