Gospel singer and philanthropist Karangu Muraya has sparked widespread debate after publicly embracing a polygamous lifestyle, introducing his second wife to the public and affectionately calling her and his first wife his "T & C."
The nickname "Jacob Mwenyewe" — referencing the biblical patriarch known for his multiple wives — has become symbolic of Karangu’s decision to walk the path of polygamy.

The move, however, has stirred controversy, especially from his first wife, Triza Njeri (also known as Mama Esther), with whom he shares a 13-year marriage and children.
Triza, during an emotional TikTok live session, revealed she felt blindsided by her husband's decision. She accused Karangu of abandoning her and their children in their rural home in Gatundu South after moving in with Carol in Kasarani.
Declaring she had no intention of staying in a polygamous setup, Triza expressed deep pain and disappointment, stating she was ready to walk away.
In response, Karangu defended his actions, claiming his marriage to Triza had been strained for years.
He cited constant silence and unresolved issues as reasons for his departure, saying the situation had severely affected his health, contributing to conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure. Seeking peace and happiness, he chose to start afresh with Carol Kim.
Carol, in turn, addressed the public about her past, revealing she had previously been married, but the union lasted less than six months.
She explained that she officially filed for divorce and followed Kikuyu customs by returning the dowry in April 2024, effectively ending the previous marriage.
