In Summary

South Africa has historically maintained a strong presence at Miss Supranational.

In a surprising move, the Miss South Africa Organization has announced that the reigning Miss South Africa will not be competing in the Miss Supranational 2025 pageant, set for June in Poland.

The decision, revealed in an official statement, is said to be part of a strategic shift in focus toward other global platforms and opportunities better aligned with the organization’s evolving goals.

While the name of the reigning Miss South Africa, Mia Le Roux, was not immediately mentioned in the release, the organization clarified that the decision was not due to personal issues, conflict, or controversy, but rather a carefully considered move intended to optimize the titleholder’s international exposure and development.

"The Miss South Africa Organization is constantly evaluating the platforms and partnerships that offer the most value and alignment with our brand and the growth of our titleholders," the statement read.

"As such, we have decided not to participate in Miss Supranational 2025. We remain committed to showcasing South African excellence on the global stage in other impactful ways."

South Africa has historically maintained a strong presence at Miss Supranational, notably winning the crown in 2020 with Chanique Rabe and placing consistently in recent years.

The withdrawal comes as a surprise to many fans and pageant watchers, who have come to expect South Africa’s participation and strong performance in international competitions.

Despite stepping back from this particular pageant, the reigning Miss South Africa will continue to fulfil her national duties, engage in social impact initiatives, and possibly prepare for other global competitions such as Miss Universe or Miss World, depending on the organization’s next steps.

Pageant enthusiasts now await further announcements regarding South Africa’s representation at other international events and whether a separate delegate may be appointed in future editions of Miss Supranational.
