Romelu Lukaku has announced the devastating news that his father, Roger Menama Lukaku, has died at the age of 58: Saying, ‘Life will never be the same’.

The morning after Napoli’s 2-1 defeat to Milan in San Siro, Lukaku took to social media to announce that his father has died aged 58.

“Thank you for teaching me everything I know. I’m forever grateful and appreciate you. Life will never be the same,” the Belgian wrote on an Instagram post on Monday morning.

“Protecting and guiding me like no else could I won’t be the same. The pain and tears are flowing big time. But God will give me the strength to get myself back together. Merci pour tout.”

Like his son, Roger Lukaku also played as a centre-forward, representing various sides in Belgium including KV Mechelen and Oostende. He had also represented the Zaire national team, now recognized as DR Congo.

Roger’s other son, Jordan, is also a professional, having most recently represented Adanaspor in the Turkish Super Lig. He spent six years on Lazio’s books between 2016 and 2022.

Romelu, meanwhile, remains contracted to Napoli, where he is currently unavailable through injury. He is expected to return in late November or early December after being ruled out of action for several months just before the start of the 2025-26 campaign.
